SAMANTICS

My name is Samantha and I am an artist who makes comics and other random things. I want a place where I can put my art, but I want it to be more than just an instagram or tumblr blog. This website is a major work in progress, but I'm using it to learn HTML so I think it'll eventually turn into something really cool. Trust me. I promise.

Made a decision on the vibe I want my website to be. VHS Tapes. I like the design and vibe of them so the front page will be a horror movie, then I'll think of other styles of movies to make for the individual pages. I might not stick with it, but it's good to have a goal.

Learning more about design. Added a simple gradient to the background, rounded out the corners of the boxes and adjusted the margins of the site. I moved all of the code writing to Visual Studio Plus so that I can update it without getting multiple notifications that I updated my website when all I was doing was messing with the section backgrounds, ultimately deciding not to change them. Still adding to that list of features I want. I want to figure out how to make individual sections scrollable to keep the front page small and not as crowded. I also need to start thinking of an overall theme for the page and start designing a background for it to help me lock the vibe in early so that I'm not worrying about that alongside the actual coding stuff.

Tried adding in where I want the links to go and tried to space the margins a bit more. Unfortunately I am still unsure how to overall design a website so I couldn't really do too much today. Tried to adjust where the neocities cat picture went at the bottom, but it refused to budge so I need to try and figure out how to isolate that in the group to adjust it, but I am still very new to CSS so I think I just need to get further along in the course. The overall structure of CSS makes more sense now. I just need to get more into the design part of it. But I'm making my way slowly towards something. Even just writing these little devlogs makes me feel accomplished even though the content in these is incredibly basic and I don't know what I'm talking about so it isn't even all that interesting. Oh well.

CSS is amazing! I am still learning the basics, but I can actually understand the structure of it so that's a big step up. I added a background color, put the individual sections into their own boxes and I adjusted the size of the title! It's not a lot, but I can begin to set up the basic structure of the site. For now I think I'm gonna go very classic. Header with links to different pages, main body in the center, stuff on the margins for decoration and other stuff, footer with links. I'm gonna hopefully get on that tomorrow. At the very least I'll make more leadway on the CSS course! It's so cool having my own little space to mess around with!

Made it to the CSS section of the Freecodecamp.org curriculum! Now I can learn how to make this site interesting to look at. Already off to a good start! Made it so the links take you to a new tab, I also added small lines to seperate the different sections! Might not seem like a lot, but it is to me! As I go through the course and get inspired to add stuff here I will!

Finished the main HTML section on Freecodecamp.org! Now I'm on to the next section which is a brief bit on how computers work in general before heading on to other big section which is all about CSS. So finally I can learn how to make this site look nice too! I also am gonna make a quick list of features I know this site will have to have. And also it'll let me show off that I can make basic lists!

Spent the last week on FreeCodeCamp.org learning the most basic stuff I can about HTML. I'm almost done with the first major course. After that I'll go to the CSS course to learn how to make this site look nice too. I have plans for this site. I want to add a lot of interactive features and random stuff to discover. Will try to keep this updated as I learn more!
